Successful Steps to Cold Calling:


Many of the people do not wish to do cold calling whereas this is the important activity which should continue on daily basis, weekly basis and monthly basis. The main reason why people are not success to do it because they think that the person has all other things to do and he/she will not entertain him/her.

Let me share that this is a most entertaining and learning activity which every sales person should do on planned scheduled basis. This is an activity which gives a sales person chance to interact with different hierarchy and different category of people in an organization and opportunity to leave his/her impression. If a sales person is avoiding a cold call it means (s)he is trying to say that either (s)he doesn’t know anything or (s)he is full of negativity that nothing outcome will come.

For this one has to be confidence in his/her product and conviction in the company.

I believe that there are some ideas which work when it will be followed well manner:

Let’s Share….

 Plan your day with dedicated time for prospect(s).

 Be clear about the reason why you are calling to prospect and emphasize on benefits which customer will get, do not emphasize on product features.

 Greet the prospect as per time and speak pleasingly.

 Be confident and energetic.

 If phone is received by gatekeeper then respect him in the same manner as you will be respecting the prospect.

 Always make a call on appropriate time; preferably between 11:30AM-5:00PM.

 Before offering something, ask to prospect that whether it is convenient time to talk or not.

 Calling on Monday morning and Friday afternoons will produce the worst response.

 Calling on Semi-Holidays and inclement weather condition days will produce higher response.

 Make the prospect honored after calling to prospect like “It was great, talking to you”.

 Believe in your product and services and what benefits customer will get.

 Always believe in yourself and your professionalism.

    Trust me, this is the activity, a major activity which is the backbone of all the businesses and the sales people can do wonders with a small phone call.

    Just imagine, how much effort, energy and revenue would be saved if someone learns this trick of selling products, services and concepts over the phone. And this art is very very important, not only for sales people but for other departments.

    A call can create a life time magic which a personal cold call (visit) might not create. Be it personal life, professional life or social life.
